Proposition: Park Forest East Crime Prevention and Improvement District Proposition
Shall the Park Forest East Crime Prevention and Improvement District (the “District”), be authorized to renew the annual fee on each parcel of land located within the boundaries of the District in the amount of Seventy Dollars ($70.00), which fee shall be levied for a period of ten (10) years, commencing on January 1, 2022 and ending in 2031, and shall the District’s Board be authorized to increase the parcel fee up to One Hundred Fifty dollars ($150.00), as provided in LSA R.S. 33:9097.10, with the proceeds of the parcel fee to be used to aid in crime prevention and enhance security of the District residents by providing for an increase of law enforcement and security patrols within the District and to provide for maintenance and improvement of areas with the District (an estimated $56,500 is reasonably expected to be collect from the initial collection)?
A Crime Prevention District is a form of special tax district that collects taxes for a defined area to be used for a specific purpose. This proposition is only on your ballot if you live in the defined area of the district. The Park Forest East District specifically charges a $70 service charge per year for all properties in the district.
Renews the Park Forest East District for another 10 years, 2022-2031. This will collect $70 per year for each property in the district. An estimated $56,500 will be collected by this charge from the entire district. These funds will be spent on extra police patrols and maintenance projects within the district.
The Park Forest East Crime Prevention and Improvement District is not renewed. Funding from this tax’s service charge is no longer available for the area’s extra police patrols and maintenance projects.
