Proposition: Forest Oak Windsor Place Crime Prevention, Improvement, and Beautification District Proposition
Shall Forest Oak Windsor Place Crime Prevention, Improvement, and Beautification District (“District”), be authorized to levy and collect the annual parcel fee on each improved and unimproved parcel within the District for a period of 10 years, beginning in 2021 and ending in 2030, not to exceed $175 per parcel on each lot zoned for residential use and not to exceed $500 per parcel on each lot zoned for commercial use, except lots whose owner qualifies for the special assessment level provided by Article VII, Section 18(G)(1) of the Constitution of Louisiana which shall be 50% of the amount of the fee that would otherwise be imposed on such a parcel, as provided in Act No. 260 (2020) enacting La. R.S. 33:9097.32, with the proceeds of the parcel fee to be used to provide or enhance security patrols in the District, to provide improved lighting, signage, or matters relating to the security of the District, to provide for the beautification of and improvements for the District, and to provide generally for the overall betterment of the District (an estimated $296,100 is reasonably expected to be collected from the initial collection)?
A Crime Prevention District is a form of special tax district that collects taxes for a defined area to be used for a specific purpose. This proposition is only on your ballot if you live in the defined area of the district. The Forest Oak Windsor Place District specifically charges a $175 service charge per year for all residential lots and a $500 service charge per year for all commercial buildings in the district.
Renews the Forest Oak Windsor Place District for another 10 years, 2021-2030. This will collect $175 per year for each residential building and $500 for each commercial building. An estimated $296,100 will be collected by this charge per year from the entire district. These funds will be spent on extra police patrols and beautification projects within the district.
The Crime Prevention, Improvement, and Beautification District is not renewed. Funding from this tax’s service charge is no longer available for the area’s extra police patrols and beautification projects.
